I made A LOT of sets for the Dog Lovers Show. Any that were leftover are now in the Ready to Ship section. You can see examples of all the styles and hardwares in this reel.

There are flat collars and martingales.
Colours are black, brown, blue, red, purple, neon pink, neon orange or neon green.
Collars are 1″ wide, leashes are 4ft long and 3/4″ wide (metric, shmetric) and adjustable – neck size is the centre of five holes.
Everything is handmade by me.
Collar and leash sets are $120 each plus shipping.

Just the hardware alone on some of these sets was over $25, so these are a bloody bargain!

* Brahma is like Biothane but thicker, has a smaller range of colours and doesn’t have an Aussie supplier. We bought a heap of it before Biothane came to Australia.

meet our ambassadogs – strong vegan dog collars

Are you ready to meet our ambassadogs? There are four in total. First up we have Arlo and Quiz the Salukis (you can find them on Instagram here).

I chose them because they go on regular outings and I know these wares will get out and about more than any of my own dogs’ collars. I didn’t consider the fact that they have very little neck real estate to decorate or that their ever-so-long ears would make the collars hard to photograph 🤣 We got there though!

Both dogs are wearing martingales. Arlo’s is grey on burgundy biothane with stainless steel hardware and some gorgeous gems that I bought yeeeeeeears ago for leather collars but never got around to using. They’re pretty cool, hey? I haven’t added this design to the website yet but it can be custom ordered.

Quiz’s martingale is a variation of the Love is Love weave with solid brass hardware and a biothane adapter (on the far side of his neck, to close the martingale with a buckle, you’ll see it as a closure style in the FAQs section). I’ll try and get a sample of this weave made so I can add it to the site but if you don’t want to wait you can also custom order this.

Our next ambassadog is Chubbs. I think we first met at the Dog Lovers Show. He doesn’t just get out and about more than my dogs, he has a more active social life than even the most extroverted of my friends!

Each ambassadog got a paracord collar and a biothane collar and leash (except Karen, she got one collar and leash for each of her two dogs). Here’s Chubbs in his biothane selector collar and leash. I would never have thought to put these two colours together but I just LOVE the combo. You won’t miss him out and about in these.

Here’s Chubbs in his second bespoke collar, a Spinal Tap Jnr. We referred to these as the Ikea colours because his person liked the sample of a different weave that I made in similar colours. The biothane adapter was made in the same pale blue as his biothane leash so he can mix and match. All the hardware and beads are stainless steel, so he can play in all the puddles that he wants!

Excuse me for a minute while I blow smoke up my own arse … HOW BLOODY GORGEOUS IS THIS COLLAR?!! This is a Ball Tearer and also an intro to our fourth and final ambassadog, Kobi. It kinda pained me to give him this beauty but I know it will bring so much more attention to our business on the streets of the Northern Beaches than it will hanging in my studio!

Kobi did a great job at modelling his new collar. I didn’t even have to chuck a treat to get him to throw his head back 😆

And the last of our ambassadog creations are these biothane selector martingale in olive, gold and brass with a gold leash. Don’t they look just stunning?

There’s actually an identical collar (for a slightly smaller neck) in the Ready to Ship section if you need your dog to look even half as handsome as this!

new biothane dog collars collection launched

I’ve been working with (and using) Biothane since we relaunched as Ruffined Designs – making leashes and adapters for my paracord collars – but it’s taken until now to create collar designs to offer our customers. A long time supporter asked if it would be possible to make our Trixiedog design in Biothane and so the journey began. I made some mistakes along the way but I eventually came up with two different designs that I’m really happy with – The Selector and The Biothane Trixiedog.

It’s important to us that we test our products and luckily I have three live in product testers / models!

On the first outing their wares just had to withstand wrestling, mud and water. After a rinse in the bath with the dogs they looked as good as new. I decided that I didn’t like Butters’ collar though, there wasn’t enough contrast between the strap widths so I remade it with a wider bottom strap. A failed Trixiedog sample was made into a collar for Bruno and off we all went for another adventure.

Bruno dunked his in the muddy dam but Butters really took his product testing to the next level when he rolled in horse shit. Uh huh.

This is his “I’m so happy to be covered in horse shit” face.

Due to a number of reasons we decided to go home at that point. There was nowhere to rinse either the dogs or the collars so we had a lovely hour long drive home with that stench in the car!

I gave Butters’ collar a scrub under the tap and that got rid of most of the crud but there was some staining left.

The handy husband suggested rubbing it with acetone. It worked at removing the rest of the staining. I’ve spoken to Biothane and they said they haven’t tested that method so they can’t say if it will or won’t cause any damage long term and to make sure to wash the Biothane afterwards to remove any traces of acetone. On their website they suggest warm soapy water or rubbing alcohol. I often put my paracord and Biothane dog collars and leads in the washing machine, which has worked well for removing mud.

These product photos were taken after the horse shit incident, as you can see it looks as good as new.

Bruno’s collar is my first Trixiedog attempt, which I made a mistake on. In future the top strap will go the whole way around, like on the Selector collars above. Pictured also is our new Selector leash design.

Because everything we make is bespoke these are fully customisable and all the hardware is either stainless steel or solid brass. We design things that are strong enough for our meatheads so they’ll be strong enough for yours!

We guarantee that your purchase will be shipped before our delivery company’s Christmas cut-off.*
